My husband and I had put off estate planning for many, many years. We finally decided we needed to get a family trust done and I went to the internet in search of a lawyer. I wanted someone local if possible. I read Nathan's reviews and decided to set up a consultation appointment. I filled in the on...line form, and he called me back within hours. We had the consult 2 days later. After talking with him for 15 minutes we knew he was the person we wanted. He was professional, knowledgeable, and kind. His price was reasonable. We thought it would be difficult to get all the information we needed together, but Nathan gave us a "homework" packet asking for all the needed information. It was quick and easy to complete. I had an odd partnership agreement from my father's estate, and Nathan researched the viability of the agreement and gave me several options of how to handle it in my Trust. (My partners had asked their attorneys and got no advice, but Nathan handled it for me, and my partners are now doing the same with their respective trusts). When we arrived to sign paperwork, he went through each and every document and explained them in detail. He then put everything into a binder and explained what we needed to do next as far as what information to take with us to inform our banks, insurance companies, etc. about the new trust. He also handled all the deed paperwork to get our home into the trust. We were then given the binder, and also were sent a digital copy of the signed trust. As an added bonus, he also included a second binder for our executor, explaining exactly what needs to be done, step-by-step to distribute the trust. That gave my husband and I, along with our daughter, the executor peace of mind. While picking up the trust, we mentioned my husband was going in the next day for an angiogram. Nathan called to see how it went! It was so kind and appreciated by both of us. We really feel like he has us covered. My wife and I had the absolute pleasure to hire Nathan Rien to do our family trust. We could not have made a better choice. Nathan is a true professional, who handled our trust with all the care and consideration we could have possibly asked for. At our first meeting, he shared what he was going t...o do and what he offered in his "trust package". He took the time to get to know us and to share his thoughts and ideas about trusts. He then handed us a detailed sheet with everything that would be done for the trust. After listening to his ideas, and what he was offering to do for us, it took a matter of seconds before my wife and I decided to move forward and have Nathan do our trust. We both found Nathan to be meticulous, and he took extra time to make sure that everything he did for us was exactly what we wanted. Nathan presented both advantages and disadvantages to some of our preconceived ideas about the trust. He kept in constant contact with us and made sure that we were happy with the process. Nathan's professionalism is outstanding, and his ethics are of the highest standard. But more importantly, he took the time to get to know us. He offered an extremely friendly atmosphere for a daunting task, and made both my wife and I feel extremely comfortable. We both had a real sense that Nathan cared about us not simply as clients, but as people. When Nathan completed the trust, he presented us two binders. The first binder contained our trust and was sorted in a way that we could easily find any document that we needed. The second binder was a handbook for the executor of our trust. This handbook is amazing. It is filled with answers to questions and situations that arise when you have been selected as a Trustee and are managing a trust. My wife's comment was that it was "invaluable" for any executor. As someone who recently acted as a Trustee, I would have loved to had this to guide me through the process. We cannot thank Nathan enough for the time and effort that he has put forth in assembling this handbook. Last, and certainly not least, is the fact that Nathan's cost for building our trust was beyond reasonable. After dealing with lawyers in the Bay Area, it was a breath of fresh air to find someone who has found an excellent balance between services rendered and fees. To say that Nathan's services were a "bargain" is to understate what we received for what we paid. I have read other reviews on here, and I know that every situation is different, but I would not hesitate one second to hire Nathan Rien to do our trust again, nor would I hesitate to refer him to others. I said it before, and I will repeat it. Nathan made the difficult situation of creating a trust simple and pain-free.

He is extremely competent, has a warm friendly personality, and has degrees in several different areas - Juris Doctor, a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and History, a Master's Degree in Education, and a Master'...s Degree in Sport Science. With all these degrees - he is so humble that all of his degrees decorate his private office instead of his client conference room - so we were unaware of them until he took us there after finishing our Trust signing. We were immediately impressed with him when we first met to have a free initial consultation. We hired him that same day to help us create an update to our 20-year-old Trust. He dealt with our situation with creative options to help us to express our wishes to cover a slightly unusual request. His fee was very reasonable, and he completed our updated Trust very quickly. When we went for the final Trust signing, he presented us with our restated Trust in a beautiful book-style binder with our name embossed on it. In addition to that, he gave us another binder with complete instructions to help explain the legal requirements of a Trustee in the process of administering a Trust. He is the author of that very helpful book, written in plain English rather than legalese. It is general in nature with no specifics about our own Trust. It will be invaluable to the Trustee who eventually will be tasked with managing our Trust. This extra book is an unexpected value above and beyond what we expected. And, as a final bonus, he scanned all of our signed Trust documents and put them on a portable thumb drive, which he then gave to us. That gives us access to the entire Trust at our fingertips at any time in any place with a computer. We highly recommend Nathan C. Rien and his very competent office staff for help with Estate planning and Trusts. He and his family are definitely an asset for our town of Oakdale CA.
