Calvin S. Louie, a founding member of the firm, began his practice in 1980, in the areas of immigration, tort litigation emphasizing personal injury cases, and criminal defense. Prior to opening his own law practice, Calvin had worked extensively with legal aid offices where he developed a strong commitment to representing people with various backgrounds in our diverse communities. I paid this attorney a $4,000 retainer fee up front, and ended up paying another $2,000 on a totally uncontested divorce. It was absolutely ridiculous. He stated at our first meeting there were different charges depending if he worked on my case (which he verified he would be), vs a bit lower charges...
