Jack G. Martel is a partner in Ragghianti | Freitas LLP. He has twenty years experience specializing in general business and securities transactions.

Jack acts as outside general counsel providing corporate and business advice on a broad spectrum of business, operational, transactional and other matters, including taxation, employment, and intellectual property issues. Jack has broad experience in structuring, negotiating and documenting mergers, stock and asset acquisitions, joint ventures and other business combinations.  

For the last decade, Jack has focused on representing investment advisers, fund managers and others in the investment management industry. He counsels fund sponsors, advisers and managers on all manner of legal, regulatory and compliance issues in connection with the formation and operation of private investment vehicles and related business issues. Jack advises investment advisers, wealth managers, and fund managers ranging from start-ups to multi-billion advisers on compliance and regulatory matters, all manner of advisory operations, federal and state regulatory compliance, registration and exemptions from registration under Investment Advisers Act, Investment Company Act, Commodities Exchange Act, federal and state securities laws.

Jack has spoken at a number of hedge fund and investment advisory conferences and seminars and written for industry publications. He is the author of the Investment Adviser Law Blog, devoted to providing information and discussion of interest to investment advisers, private fund managers and others in the investment management industry.
