Excellent Team and Trans-Friendly!

I highly recommend Katherine Siegfried’s office for representation of any disability or SSI case. I reached out to Katherine’s office after my SSI case was initially rejected and I had to begin the appeal process. I was unable to work, I was losing my housing, and I found the process to be overwhelmi...ng and hostile, even with my own background in professional advocacy. When I called Katherine’s office, I was connected with Mika, one of the legal advocates, who went over the details of my case with me in a free consultation. She was very understanding of how taking care of myself had become a full-time job for me, and that my younger age should not disqualify me from being too disabled to work. It took about two years total to get approved for SSI, and someone from Katherine’s office was with me every step of the way since I signed up for their assistance. One of their other legal advocates, Jacob, has been my primary point of contact and is especially attentive, knowledgeable, and kind. I don’t think I’ve ever had to wait more than 2 business days for an email reply, and I could reach Jacob by phone immediately (although email communication is easier for me). At one point during the process, I was feeling very sick and I had difficulty checking and responding to emails and mail for months. Jacob made multiple attempts to reach out to me, and thankfully the office continued to work with me and was very understanding about why I was struggling to respond. Furthermore, I let everyone I worked with at the office know that I was transgender (non-binary) and used they/them/theirs pronouns. Everyone was always very respectful of that, and they tried to give me as much agency as possible within the binary system that the Social Security Administration enforces. Everyone at the office introduces their pronouns in their email signatures and the office feels very trans-friendly. Although I was originally working with a different lawyer, Ambreshia, for my case, Katherine unexpectedly needed to represent me at my court hearing close to the hearing date. She made sure to fully review my case and met with me twice before my hearing to go over the process, the details of my case, and any questions I had, and then once more right after the hearing to check in and see how I was doing. She did an amazing job and I felt fully understood and represented. They helped win my case even when Social Security Administration’s contracted doctor tried to claim I wasn’t disabled enough. They took care of hours of calling, thousands of pages of medical documentation, and staying on top of all notices and requirements from Social Security. Even after Katherine’s office received payment, they have continued to give me advice and are helping me resolve an issue. I feel that Katherine’s team truly cares about their clients beyond just a form of payment. Working with Katherine’s team was completely worth the cost from my backpay, and I would recommend anyone eligible to work with her office. Having a lawyer during this process helps a lot, and Katherine’s office has demonstrated dedication, experience, competence, and care.

Condescending and ineffective

I hired Katherine based on these avvo reviews unfortunately, my experience with her was nothing like the others. She completely butchered my case and now having exhausted all appeals I am starting over with a different attorney… who told me that she butchered my case. Not only that, but during the ma...ny years I worked with her she was often condescending, cold, and short - like she blamed me every time we would lose. She is clearly burned out and needs to move onto a different area of law where she can be of actual service to her clients. She is shady and had her yelp page removed because it contained negative reviews.

I am so sorry that this individual had this experience. Unfortunately, as they did not reach out to me directly and posted anonymously, I have no idea who this person is or why they would feel this way. I have never had a client who "exhausted all appeals" as I routinely represent clients all the way through federal court. I'm sorry that they had me represent them for "many years" if they felt this way. I hope that whoever posted this will show me the courtesy of reaching out directly so that I can learn from any mistakes I made in their case. I try my best, but I'm not perfect. I am open to constructive feedback from clients and take complaints very seriously. I am happy this individual seems to have found a better fit with a new attorney. Also, I have never had a Yelp page and do not know if it is even possible to take one down because of negative reviews- I would think not.

Katherine and her team are exceptional. She never gave up after two appeals, she continue with my SSD case and finally we won. I recommend Katharine Siegfried for anyone. Excellent Attorney.

The only attorney that would take my case!

Attorney Siegfried, as well as the staff was exceptional in dealing with my case. After being denied my SSDI since 2015, as appeal after appeal was denied, Attorney Siegfried took my case to a Federal Appeals when no other attorney would make time for me; most would say there is nothing here or that ...there was NO chance at the Federal level. The other attorney's were wrong! We WON!!! Thank you for helping me as well as walking me through this during difficult times.

Avvo Rating

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
