Take caution when approaching this lawyer

Donna Gibbs was recommended by a friend because I'm in the process of a separation from the father of my two small children. Her assistant Maureen told me I needed to give her personal information that she would then relay to Donna, and then she would get back to me on whether Donna would take my mat...ter. Maureen was cold and insensitive, and sometimes flip, in the process of asking me highly personal questions about myself and my partner, as well as my kids. She then called me back two hours later and said sorry, Donna was too busy for my case. I wonder, why not tell me that in the first place and spare me the time and the attitude? Not a good experience. I felt violated at a particularly difficult time in my life.

I am sorry for your negative experience with my legal staff. The normal intake process in our office does ask for details about the specific situation, which in a divorce, custody or support case usually involves personal and sensitive information. We gather this information in order to evaluate the complexity of the case, whether the case requires immediate action, and to determine whether or not I can take the matter based on my current case load. I try hard to be responsive to my clients and the best way to do that is to have a case load that allows for this.
