Biography
My decision to practice law was motivated by the desire to (1) help and defend people whose rights have been violated; (2) oppose the abuse of power; and (3) hold abusers of power to account.
I am especially interested in police misconduct cases. I also accept cases in criminal defense and plaintiff's side employment law (e.g., employment discrimination, harassment, wrongful termination).
Law is my second career. I previouslytaught Religious Studies at U.C. Berkeley and, before that, OxfordUniversity. I have published books and articles in this field.
I was born and raised in Britain. I moved to California in 1992 and became a U.S. citizen in 2000.
I am hardworking, smart, and effective. Above all, I am totally committed to my clients.

Best Lawyer in Oakland
I came across Chris on this website. He was very responsive and took on my case although he knew it would be substantial amount of work and not a lot of money. He was honest, had excellent rates, and helped me win my case. If I ever need a lawyer again he will be the first I call.
