LaPorte is my upgrade, and a substantial one at that, to a prior, national, firm I was using. Unlike the former company, LaPorte was and is: highly responsive to my inquiries, careful in documentation and data acquisition, respectful of this client and the process, diligent in serious and organized ...prosecution of the case (including hearing preparation), significantly competent in apprising me of developments as they occur and providing clear explanations to questions posed. Assuredly, they have hundreds of clients, but their service made me feel as though I was and am "the only one." Our efforts yielded a successful outcome, an award granted - and rightly so - by the administrative law judge. I do not want to ponder what would have happened had I stayed with the previous law firm. The consequences of injustice in disability law are extreme. The case is now closed. Yet when I contact them for miscellaneous post-case closure information - and you will mostly likely have this need, as well - I receive the same fantastic service that I did as an active client. Laporte helped me file my disability application and when it was denied, she represented me in the appeals. In my opinion she did a basic job but my husband would have done better because he understands my health conditions. Laporte did a poor job explaining diagnosis and conditions/limitations at th...e hearing. When the appeal was denied, she told me I could reapply and told me that she would do it. I called her office to check on the application 3 times and each time she confirmed the application was pending. Now she is not returning my calls and her office claims I am not her client. I am checking into a new lawyer now but I am so upset I have been assuming my application was completed almost 2 years ago and I am back at square-one.
