David Poore represented me in a wrongful termination action in the aftermath of 9/11. I had been fired for defending an Arab victim of a hate crime in a school cafeteria on the evening of 9/11. I contacted 47 firms and only this man would take me as a client. He explained that the law was unclear as ...to whether I was covered by the relevant law and that we might have to "make law." Though he had just started his own practice, David Poore represented me against one of the largest international educational corporations and achieved a significant settlement via mediation. He will always be one of my few heroes. Six months after my case settled, the US Supreme Court (5-4) in Jackson v. Birmingham established the principle that anti-discrimination law includes under the umbrella of its protection those who stand up for the victims of discrimination and thus become victims themselves.
