Anna Benvenue graduated magna cum laude from the University of Georgia with a B.A. in American History. At UGA she was a Presidential Scholar, a member of Phi Beta Kappa, and spent a term studying abroad in the Semester at Sea program. After college, Anna spent two years with Teach for America in San Jose, CA., obtained her state California State Teaching Credential from San Jose State University, and taught fourth grade for a third year.
She graduated with highest honors and in the top 3% of her class from Golden Gate School of Law in 2008, where she was the Managing Editor of the Law Review, a Peer Mentor, a Moot Court Board Member, and wrote a law review article on the rehabilitation failures of the California Youth Authority. She won awards for legal writing, constitutional law, business associations, evidence, and appellate advocacy.
While in law school, Anna interned with the Tenderloin Housing Clinic, the San Francisco District Attorney's Office, and Minami Tamaki, LLP. She also served as an extern for the Honorable Judge Thelton Henderson of the US District Court for the Northern District of California. After graduation, Anna was hired through the Attorney General Honor's Program and worked for the Department of Justice as an Attorney Advisor at the San Francisco Immigration Court.
At the Law Office of Robert B. Jobe, Anna's practice centers around defending people in deportation proceedings before Immigration Judges, representing clients in appeals before the Board of Immigration Appeals and the Federal Courts of Appeal and in lawsuits in Federal District Court under the Administrative Procedures Act. She has successfully argued multiple cases in the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeal, including Ali v. Holder, 637 F.3d 1025 (9th Cir. 2011). She particularly enjoys cases involving immigrants with criminal convictions and alleged ties to terrorist groups.
In her spare time, Anna enjoys road biking, going to the beach and watching college football. Originally from Atlanta, Georgia, Anna has been residing in San Francisco since 2002 and loves the weather and culture of the Bay Area too much to return to the South.
