Your mother may travel with with a visitor visa. Her ties to her home country will determine if the visa is issued.

You may hire anyone with employment authorization; permanent resident, US citizen, Asylee, Temporary Protected status.

if your change of status was filed H4 to H1, your H4 EAD is no longer valid.

You may only work in the US with employment authorization for the duties performed. You may see employment authorization for a second company.
