Caring, Compassionate & Clear

Mr Osofsky explains everything very thoroughly, is extremely patient answering all questions, ensures the primary person's wishes are known to him and are being carried out. This includes consulting with our Mom 1:1 with us out of the room to ensure this. He then stayed with us over a long period o...f time as Mom sorted out her living situation etc. Once he established the correct trust for Mom, he then worked as an intermediary with our CPA. When Mom passed he processed all the paperwork and again served as an intermediary to the government and CPA. He was extremely thorough, professional but personal and empathetic as he worked with us all. He remains up on current law and policy. I highly recommend Mr. Osofsky.

Rights for elderly

I can’t say enough about this attorney. I came upon a very stressful, overwhelming problem I had to deal with for my dad. The laws and all the things that I can do -I can’t do for him and my mom since I’m the power of attorney so overwhelming. He made the passage of things that I needed to get done q...uickly he explained them eloquently so I could understand .answered thousands of questions that I had regarding them and their situation. I would definitely refer anyone I know to him in regards to the elderly care he’s very knowledgeable! Very honest as well ! It’s hard to explain how overwhelmed I was with my parents situation and he really help me with that

Gene Osofsky "The Best in the Business"

Gene Osofsky saved my parents entire estate from a Medi-Cal claim. My brother and I were using a different attorney for my parents Will and Living Trust(we did not know of Gene Osofsky at the time). Both my parents ended up in a nursing home. One for 6 years the other for 3 years. When both parents ha...d passed away Medi-Cal submitted a claim against the estate for the money they had paid for their care. The claim far exceeded the value of the estate. The attorney we had felt we would be better served by and referred us to Gene Osofsky since he is an expert in Medi-Cal law (among other aspects of the law concerning ElderLaw,Wills,Trusts,Pro bate,Estate Planning etc.). He was so right. My brother and I met for a consultation with Gene Osofsky and after reviewing our case he immediately knew the best course of action for us to take. He said he would step out of the room so my brother and I could discuss what we wanted to do. I said " there is no need for you to leave", I knew then that I wanted to use him. My brother said the same thing. He submitted our case, based on Law, to Medi-Cal and they withdrew their total claim for both parents. There was no going back and forth with Medi-Cal. I feel that the first attorney earned his money just by referring us to Gene Osofsky. Gene Osofsky is Organized, Thorough, Experienced (over 40 years), Knowlegeable, and "Up to date" on the Law (extremely important). As far as I'm concerned 5 stars isn't enough for Gene Osofsky.

Peer Review by Another Colleague

Outstanding attorney! Very knowledgeable and very caring. Although I am an attorney, myself, I felt that my parents’ estate plan needed someone with special skills. I had previously met Mr. Osofsky through another estate planning attorney, and felt that he was the right person. My instincts were ...correct. He was indeed the right attorney. My parents are not US citizens, and we needed a plan that accommodated that circumstance, as well as the need to combine traditional estate planning with long-term care planning. He did a great job and came up with a very customized plan that was just right. I found him to be sharp, creative, and very knowledgeable. Just as important, he really cared about my parents and our family. I had also attended a presentation that he gave to seniors about estate planning; he is especially skilled at explaining complex subjects in a way that is understandable to non-lawyers. I give him the highest marks and would not hesitate to recommend him to anyone needing estate planning or elder law services, especially seniors and their families.

A successful outcome with a potential Medi-Cal claim.

My sister and I contacted Gene when we were about to sell our late mother's home. Mom had some language in her trust about her late husband (our step-father) having a "life estate" in the home if she pre-deceased him, which she did. Since he was being cared for in a nursing home and had just passed a...way at age 102, we had a concern that MediCal, who had already contacted us about a possible claim, was going to pursue one if we sold the home. They had said that the claim could be as much as $188,000. Gene gave us very good advice about all of the options open to us, and we hired him to deal with the situation. It was so great to have a professional working on our behalf. That meant I didn't have to spend hours on end dealing with all of the bureaucracy. It was never Mom's intent to have the State take away from that which she wanted to pass along to her three children. Our step-father had been in the nursing home from 2005 until his death, early in 2009, because he was no longer able to be taken care of at home where our mother lived until her death in 2006. I had envisioned a situation where our lawyer, Mr. Osofsky, would have to negotiate with MediCal, and we'd end up paying thousands of dollars to get them to go away, or that it might have even gone into a lengthy trial and we'd end up with a judgment against us from the Court.. With our documentation and with Mr. Osofsky's expert help and reputation with MediCal, we had the best possible outcome. MediCal dropped all claim on the estate. We have sold the home as of August, 2009. The money has been distributed to me and my brother and sister. If we had not retained Mr. Osofsky, this could still be dragging out and we would have lost the opportunity to sell the home and get on with our lives. I would recommend Gene Osofsky to anyone needing a highly professional attorney to help them deal with a difficult legal situation.
