Portia Bettis

As the Principal and Managing Attorney of Bettis, P.C.: A Professional Law Corporation, Portia Bettis oversees all aspects of her practice personally. Prior to attending law school, Ms. Bettis worked  for numerous corporations and law firms across a diverse array of practice areas, and has over 14 years of legal industry experience.  A native of Beaumont, Texas, she attended the University of Texas School of Austin after completing high school in an early admissions college program at Lamar University.  After receiving a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy with a minor in Classical Civilizations in 2002 at the University, Ms. Bettis attended the University of Texas School of Law where she received her juris doctor in 2006.

While attending the University of Texas School of Law, Ms. Bettis received numerous honors in and awards in trial advocacy. In 2005-2006 she represented the University of Texas at the American Bar Association’s Inaugural Arbitration Competition becoming the first-ever National Arbitration Competition Champion along with her teammates. She also earned a coveted spot on the 2004-2005 and 2005-2006 National Trial Competition team two years in a row.  In addition, Ms. Bettis was the winner and Best Advocate of the 2005-2006 Baron and Budd Mock Trial Competition.; a finalist in the 2004-2005 Vial Hamilton Mock Trial Competition; a finalist in the 2005-2006 Inaugural UT Mediation Competition; and a  semi-finalist in the 2004-2005  Strasburger Price Mock Trial Competition. In addition, Ms. Bettis practiced as an associate attorney in the University of Texas Criminal Defense Clinic where she represented clients charged with misdemeanor crimes ranging from theft and assault to public intoxication and DUIs. 

Upon graduation from law school, Ms. Bettis relocated to the Bay Area where she continued working for various law firms and corporations as an independent contractor.  Bettis, P.C.: A Professional Law Corporation, originally located in San Francisco California, was formed in March 2010, and incorporated in April 2011.   In it's first three years of existence, Bettis, P.C. provided superior criminal and civil representation to 67 clients in 62 cases throughout five Bay Area Counties.

After a seven month sabbatical and relocation to the East Bay, Ms. Bettis is now proudly serving clients in the following counties: Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, San Mateo, Santa Clara, Sonoma, and San Francisco.
