Shahzeen A. Karim

Shahzeen Karim is a skilled litigator celebrated for her commitment to client advocacy and confident presence in the courtroom. Her extensive experience in immigration law fuels her passion for impactful legal work, and she adopts a vigorous approach to her practice.

Starting her career in Chicago, Shahzeen excelled in criminal law, taking on a range of cases from misdemeanors to felonies in Cook County courts.

After moving to Texas, she chose to concentrate on immigration law, starting with family-based immigration issues, assisting clients navigate VAWA benefits, U Visas, hardship waivers, adjustment of status, and naturalization. Later, her focus shifted towards business immigration, successfully helping countless employers secure work authorization and employment visas for their workers via PERM Labor Certification applications, immigrant petitions, and permanent residence applications in the U.S. and at U.S. consulates overseas.

Despite an offer from the Department of Homeland Security in San Francisco, Shahzeen chose to continue her career advocating for asylum seekers facing removal, working with one of the top defense firms in the city, where she also teamed up with her colleague, Ryan.

Shahzeen actively represents clients in partnership with her colleague in California. She is licensed in Illinois and has been an active member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association since 2016.

Shahzeen holds a Juris Doctorate from DePaul University and graduated with honors from the University of Illinois-Chicago, where she double majored in Criminal Justice and Philosophy.

Her legal prowess has consistently led to favorable outcomes in complex cases across the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), Immigration Court, and various U.S. Department of State offices globally. Shahzeen is recognized for her skillful navigation of complicated legal matters, providing custom solutions and strategic advice to meet the specific needs of each client.
