Not what it takes

She resigned less than two months prior to my trial, fearful of going to court with an adversarial opponent. In Family Law, even though many of us seeking divorce hope we can settle out of court, I believe you want an attorney who is be prepared for litigation, and clearly she was not. I wish I had... recognized this at the time of hire and I feel foolish that I thought she was prepared. She used to work for Hansen, a reputable law firm in the area, but left to start her own practice and no longer had the collective experience and the backing of her colleagues and senior partners for trial preparation. She clearly lacked experience and fortitude to start her own practice when she did, and I definitely suffered for it. I chose to remain with her after she left that firm, and that was my biggest mistake. Having to find a new attorney for the financial portion of my divorce really hurt me in the long run. I am still in litigation four years after she up and quit on me, frustrated and afraid of my ex-husband and his counsel.

Don't risk it.

Ineffectual, lack of follow-through, unknowledgeable, inexperienced -- took forever to get the simplest tasks completed. I wasted an enormous sum of money without resolution.

Avvo Rating

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?

  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
