Gregor Baer

Gregor Baer is a leading San Francisco-based international corporate & restructuring lawyer. A member of the California and New York Bars, Mr. Baer has a distinguished record of advising companies, financial institutions, universities, officers and directors in reorganizations, mergers & acquisitions, restructurings, risk management and insolvency matters.  He has special expertise in cross-border cases and in corporate governance issues facing troubled enterprises, including "bet the company" litigation matters.  He has also advised insolvency administrators in international company group cases and high profile cross-border investigations.  Mr. Baer was previously a Corporate Partner and a European practice team leader at Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman LLP in San Francisco, following service with the bankruptcy litigation team of Davis Polk & Wardwell, New York. He has advanced degrees from the Universities of Oxford (D.Phil.) and Virginia (J.D.) and has taught bankruptcy law as a Fulbright Guest Professor in Germany and as a guest co-lecturer at Yale Law School. Mr. Baer was recently elected to the International Insolvency Institute, and serves as UNCITRAL Liaison Officer, Executive Board Member and Immediate Past Co-Chair of the International Bar Association Insolvency Section.  He is a leader of the IBA Delegation to the U.N. Commission on International Trade Law (Working Group V), and serves by invitation on the World Bank Insolvency and Creditor-Debtor Regimes Task Force and as Co-Chair of the World Bank's Community of Practice Project on Shareholders Rights and Corporate Governance in Insolvency.  Mr. Baer is a member of the Development Board of Christ Church, Oxford.
