Excellent Mediator/Lawyer

I went through a divorce several years ago. I tried to "do it myself" and after several rounds of the paper work being returned, I was very frustrated and upset. I went to Chris Sawyer to have him help me finalize everything with the courts. Chris determined that because my ex husband wouldn't part...icipate in the process, it would be simpler to go to court to finish the divorce up. So that's what we did and it was done before we left the court on the appointed day. This was such a relief to me, you can imagine. He was helpful, courteous and had good humor throughout. Divorce/ Separation is no fun at all but if you have to go through it, it's good to have an ally. He is a good man with a kind heart, who really cares about the best interests of his clients AND their spouses. He is fair and compassionate to both parties, which is also a relief. He will make this process as pleasant as it can be.

Divorce usually triggers major change in the lives of not only the 2 people getting divorced, but often other family members and close friends as well, and the divorce process can become extremely contentious as both people deal with the pain, loss, and upheaval in their lives. Even though mediation... as an alternative to the more adversarial route is a choice, navigating through the process of coming up with a settlement acceptable to both parties is challenging, to say the least. So when both parties come away from the process with their dignity intact, feeling the settlement was fair, and still being friends, the only verdict that can be reached is that the Mediator was awesome! Chris Sawyer is an experienced Family Law Attorney and Mediator, but from our experience going through the divorce process, it’s the Mediator skills that made the world of difference for us. Chris wears many hats – facilitator, counselor, problem solver, negotiator, legal expert – but it’s his ability to defuse tensions when emotions are charged, be impartial but still offer advice and guide negotiations to resolve conflicts, and keep a sense of reality and need for compromise as focal points throughout the discussions that have made Chris our role model for how to deal with people when they feel most vulnerable. Both my ex-husband and I highly recommend Chris Sawyer as a Divorce Mediator (we collaborated on this review … enough said).

Fair, understanding and efficient.

Simply put, Chris was a rock during a storm that my now ex-wife and myself were going through during the time he worked with us. He was extremely thorough and detail oriented. He's a good listener and a great communicator who never once showed any bias between the two of us. I would definitely recomm...end him to anyone going through a divorce, where mediation is needed.

Friendly divorce

We had no idea how to divorce. So we needed someone to guide us. My ex got a few mediators names and Mr. Sawyer was one of them. All my side of friends were against of hiring him since my ex brought his name, they were all worried that he would trick me for ex's benefit. But I trust my ex and I know ...my ex himself doesn't trust lawyers. Plus I'm the one who picked his name out of 3 so I was pretty comfortable with my decision. I even yelped him. There were both good and bad reviews. But we decided to give it a shot but made sure with my ex that I can change mediator if I don't get a good vibe out of this one. So we went to the first appointment expecting to be emotional and traumatic but I was totally wrong. I came home with a smile. I actually had a good time ! What a relief !! The office was nice and clean and bright, Mr. Sawyer was a good listener and friendly yet businesslike in the good way, very professional. He took time to listen to our stories and questions and answer and guide us very clearly. Whenever I email him with questions, he or his assistant replied quickly. Thanks to him, everything went easy and smoothly. Of course If I was greedy, I could've got more money or longer alimony but I like being fair. So I listened to Mr. Sawyer's fair suggestions. Although, if I ever felted that he may be taking my ex's side, I wouldn't have listen to him. So over all I'm very happy we chose Mr. Sawyer ! I believe he even gave us a little discount here and there. But the only thing is.... way after divorce and final payment were done, we both got this $25 bill for email fee. We thought that was kind of tacky. (Sorry Chris) We laughed about it.

Highly Recommend!

Going through a divorce is stressful, but with Chris' excellent Mediation skills, we were able to resolve our issues in a peaceful and timely manner. Chris is very fair and listens to both parties and gives realistic solutions in settling our issues. Even in the toughest of times he was able to bri...ng some laughter to the table. He is very wonderful to work with and answered my emails and questions promptly. I would highly recommend Chris Sawyer and his staff.
