Adjustment of Status with My Wife
N/AOUTCOME: She was granted her green card/residency.
My wife and I worked on her own adjustment of status case to obtain her green card based on our marriage. I am a U.S. citizen and she is from Vietnam. We met in San Francisco, fell in love, and decided ... to go for it while she was on an F-1 Visa. She was on her OPT and we filed for her case during that time. Based on my experience before submitting our case, we put together supporting evidence like joint bills, a joint checking account, pictures, and affidavits. We submitted the case, then several mnoths later she obtained her work permit and travel documents (advance parole). We then went to her interview and we both answered the USCIS officer's questions truthfully and concisely. We laughed a litle with the officer given that he realized I am also an immigration lawyer. My wife was still nervous, but she did a good job of showing our real marriage. She later obtained her green card trough the mail. Later she waived her conditions via I-751 and became a U.S. citizen.
