Daniel Jack Veroff

Dan is a civil litigator who works tirelessly to position his clients for success.  By building every case as if it will go to trial and be appealed, he has helped them obtain highly favorable results, recovering millions of dollars, enforcing fundamental rights, protecting valuable property, and defeating baseless allegations.  He uses emotional intelligence and cogent communication skills to guide his clients through the often stressful and frustrating legal process.

Dan is well versed in all aspects of civil litigation in both state and federal courts.  His practice is focused on the pursuit of high-stakes cases, representing both plaintiffs and defendants.  His key practice areas include insurance policyholder rights, class actions, complex commercial litigation, antitrust, unfair competition, trade secrets, business disputes, government issues, and more.  Dan has represented individuals, businesses, governmental entities, and foreign parties, among others.

A leader in the legal community, Dan sits on three committees of the San Francisco Trial Lawyers Association and is a past executive board member of the San Francisco chapter of the American Inns of Court (The Lawyers’ Club).  He is also a member of Consumer Attorneys of California and the Bar Association of San Francisco, and has written and presented Continuing Legal Education seminars to other legal professionals.  In the area of insurance law, Dan has served as a consultant to a group of National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) representatives, advising them on the drafting of model insurance regulations.  He also regularly performs pro bono work for United Policyholders, a nonprofit organization that fights for insurance policyholder rights nationwide.

Dan is also passionate about educating the next generation of leaders.  He frequently serves as a volunteer judge at youth debate and mock trial tournaments, including those aimed at promoting education in low socioeconomic communities, such as the Bay Area Urban Debate League.  In the past, Dan has coached nationally competitive high school debate teams.

Dan graduated law school from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law.  There, he served as an executive board member for the Hastings Science and Technology Law Journal; an editor for the Hastings International and Comparative Law Review; and a research assistant for the professor of insurance and tax law.  He earned the CALI Award for Excellence for the highest grade in Case Studies in Contract Law, and contributed to two legal textbooks that are still used in law school classrooms today.  Dan also gained valuable legal experience externing for the California Attorney General’s Office, Legal Services of Northern California, and United Policyholders.

During college at the University of San Francisco, Dan started for the school’s varsity rugby team while earning a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science.  He also interned at the San Francisco District Attorney’s Office and coached high school policy debate teams after class and on weekends.  As a high school policy debater himself, Dan achieved great levels of success, including third place at the California State Championships, sixth place at the National Forensic League Championships, and winning the top speaker award at the Stanford University Invitational, among other achievements.
