Biography
SIERRA MARTINEZ is the Legal Director of California Energy Projects in the San Francisco office of the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC). Sierra advocates for clean energy solutions as a way to fight climate change. He focuses on regulating and gas utilities in the public interest and to improve energy services for customers.
Sierra testifies and presents on energy issues regularly before the California Legislature, the California Energy Commission, the California Public Utilities Commission, and the California Independent System Operator. He has lectured and presented on energy and environmental issues before a number of academic institutions, including UC Berkeley Law, UC Hastings, Stanford Law School, and UC Davis Graduate School of Management. Sierra represents NRDC in press interviews regarding California energy issues, and was featured on NPR's California Report. Sierra sits on the Southern California Edison procurement review group and the California inter-agency Demand Analysis Working Group.
He holds a J.D. from Stanford Law School and a B.A. from Stanford University.
