Melissa Polk has handled my Restraining Order matter and the subsequent ongoing divorce case with all the professionalism, attention to detail and clearly defined goals necessary to handle two very contentious situations. I have worked among many other attorneys for 14 years while managing my (ex...) husband's law office: Ms. Polk is better than any other lawyer I know. Melissa far exceeds my expectations and she has the compassion and knowledge of the law that I needed when I became desperate and highly stressed. I trusted her from the start; she came into the midst of me trying to represent myself and file my own court documents against the man I put through law school and had supported for 28+ years. I can't give her more stars than Avvo allows; I would if I could.

Worst attorney ever! Melissa lied to my face. You cannot trust a word she says. She obviously doesn't know the law because I found out later that much of the "advice" she gave me was completely wrong! Why tell a client something as fact when you don't know what you are talking about??? She didn't hel...p me with my case and in fact, made it far worse. Her bills contained many errors, including billing me for discussing the mistakes she made which she never fixed. Rude, unknowledgeable, and a complete waste of money. I wish I had never, ever hired her. Don't make the same mistake I did!

Absolutely horrible attorney. Melissa is narcissistic, dishonest, and incompetent as an attorney. In handling my case, she said numerous things that turned out to be completely false. When questioned about what she had told me, she became defensive and flat out lied about what she had said, even when... it was in email. In court, she was an embarrassment, visibly nervous and clueless about basic aspects of the law. The judge had to reprimand her several times. She took me so far backwards in my case that it has cost me a lot of time and money to attempt to fix her many errors. My subsequent attorney couldn't believe how poorly she had handled my case and the terrible mistakes she made. I really wish I had read the review before hiring her. In reading other comments, she has a contentious relationship with her clients and talks about "terminating" them. What an awful lawyer and abrasive person. Do not hire her under any circumstance! You will regret it.

I just don't think you want to hire someone that will probably get disbarred for fraud. She practices fraud and perjury. I have never seen anything like it. Maybe she has her own deep pockets to pay people off. She has no idea what she is talking about or what the other side is talking about for ...that matter.. She is just exhausting and nothing but a no it all that knows nothing. I think the next thing in her future is a few fat lawsuits. She plays games with everyone in the courtroom. Big liar She has no problem lying and she has no problem insulting people. Very unprofessional

Absolutely horrible attorney. I have worked with many lawyers in my life. Melissa is by far and away the worst. Not only is Melissa completely incompetent but she is also dishonest. 1) she repeatedly provided factually incorrect "advice" contrary to the law. 2) she was unaware of and uninformed a...bout basic aspects of family law that any practicing attorney should know (or anyone who is capable of doing a simple Internet search). This got so bad that judges had to correct her multiple times in court. 3) she made basic math errors in calculating my settlement, left off significant claims I was clearly entitled to, and forgot to include key aspects of the settlement we had discussed many times. 4) her negotiating skills could be generously described as inept. Her general strategy was to give away all of my claims and require nothing of the opposing party. 5) when made aware of her mistakes, instead of acknowledging the errors and attempting to correct them, she lied about what she said even when it was clearly documented in writing. 6) she billed me for work she did not perform, work I specifically did not ask her to do, work to correct her many errors, and in one case double billed me for the same court appearance. When I brought the billing errors to her attention, she refused to respond.
