I was desperately looking for a lawyer who could help me with a failed client representation I was engaged in with a well know personal injury attorney in San Francisco. I had called many San Francisco lawyers, but no one would help me because they did not want to speak against the attorney I was st...ill signed with. After months of calling and searching I finally found Anne Thorkelson on a lawyer referral flyer at the Public Library. I was so relieved to discover that Ms. Thorkelson ran a clinic at the Women's Building in San Francisco for 1 dollar a minute. I had been seriously injured in a car accident, on disability and short on dollars. Ms. Thorkelson, immediately showed me care and outrage, and helped me to understand the legal documents I was trying to decipher and how to respond to them with proper legal etiquette. She also helped me to see that the attorney who was still representing me had turned against me in order to conceal his errors. I continued seeing Ms. Thorkelson for a very long time. I brought letters I had to write for her to review with her legal expertise. She helped me to figure out a plan where I could try to recover my lost damages, which were in the 100's of thousands of dollars. She showed me the correct forms to fill out and how to file them with the court. We eventually decided to take my attorney to the San Francisco Bar Association for a Fee Dispute. At this point I felt I could not do this process on my own. Ms. Thorkelson offered to represent me at the Fee Dispute. She spent many hours of her precious time in constructing a stellar brief in my defense and ultimately did not charge me. My case has now evolved in this long and winding legal road where again with Ms. Thorkelson's help I was able to write and file my own legal malpractice suit. Without Ms. Thorkelson's deep commitment to helping those who really don't know how to help themselves in the maze of the legal system, I could never have made it as far as I have. Ms. Thorkelson's Legal Clinic is educational, supportive and designed to be affordable. She deeply believes in the law and also knows how difficult it is to get help, guidance and protection if you don't have much money. I have also seen Anne Thorkelson help someone when they could not pay at all. I am currently in the process of finding a lawyer to represent me for the legal malpractice suit I have filed.
