Angelica obtained two degrees from the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA). During her time in Los Angeles, she worked at Virgin America. She also volunteered as a mentor for young Latinas in the low-income neighborhood of East Los Angeles. In 2013, Angelica obtained her degree from the University of California Hastings College of the Law. Angelica was admitted into the State Bar of California that same year. As a law student, Angelica was a member of the Hastings Race and Poverty Law Journal and the Race Law Students Association. Angelica was elected as the Internal Vice President of UC Hastings' student government (ASUCH). Due to her love of oral advocacy and direct-client services, Angelica graduated from UC Hastings with a concentration in Civil Litigation.
Angelica clerked at the Law Offices of John L. Burris during her last year of law school. John Burris is well-known for his work in high-profile excessive force cases such as Rodney King, the Oakland Riders, and more recently the Oscar Grant BART shooting. As a clerk, Angelica was part of the staff who provided support for the early stages of litigation in excessive force, personal injury, and employment cases. In this capacity, Angelica reinforced her confidence and honed her skill set in the context of client intake and pre-trial preparation. Angelica still maintains a relationship with the Law Offices of John Burris. The office frequently refers cases to her.
Angelica is currently an active member of San Francisco La Raza Lawyers Association and the Queens Bench Bar Association. She is also a member of the Litigation section of the California State Bar and a Pro Bono Attorney at Lawyers' Committee for Civil Rights, assisting low-income asylum and refugee clients.
