People v. R. M. (DUI with Accident)
N/AOUTCOME: Acquitted on All Counts at Jury Trial
DUI with an accident, and driving on a suspended license. Client had a breath test of .21. ("Almost three times the limit," the prosecutor kept repeating.) The client felt a conviction would have been ... too devastating, so he turned down all plea bargains and decided to go to trial. After almost a full week of testimony from both the prosecution and my team of experts, the jury saw the reasonable doubt and acquitted on both DUI counts. I was able to get the suspended license charge dismissed mid-trial on a technicality. So the client was happy. (And boy, so was I.)
