David Banie

David Banie concentrates his practice on complex business and intellectual property disputes, particularly focusing on litigation.  He has significant experience in commercial disputes involving securities fraud, derivative claims, trade secrets, patents, copyrights, and contract and employment disputes.  Mr. Banie has represented clients in a wide array of business and technology areas. 

Mr. Banie is experienced in all aspects of managing and preparing cases for trial, including pre-suit investigation, client counseling, formulating case strategy, engaging in and directing all phases of discovery, retaining and working with experts, motion practice, and pre-trial filings.  He has successfully briefed and argued various motions before federal and state courts.  He has also represented clients in mediation, arbitration, and early neutral evaluation. 

Mr. Banie also has a keen interest in serving the community through pro bono work.  Over the course of his legal career, Mr. Banie has successfully represented victims of predatory lending against mortgage brokers and creditors.  He has also assisted members of the San Mateo community to obtain guardianships to help care for their underaged family members in need.  Mr. Banie received Certificates of Recognition from the Legal Aid Society of San Mateo for "outstanding pro bono services to low-income residents of San Mateo” in 2005 and 2006.  In addition, Mr. Banie received a firmwide award for his outstanding pro bono service at DLA Piper US LLP.
