"I came up against Belter years ago when I was a prosecutor in Southern CA. What always struck me was his professionalism and personable demeanor. Many criminal defense attorneys come across harsh, abrasive, pushy. Not Belter. My first take was he had to be a white collar crime defense attorney. However, he quickly disabused me of that by showing he had the chops to handle tough street-crime cases. All the while, he was totally professional, polite and a pleasure to work with/against. I still think he'd be an excellent white collar attorney. His ability to appeal to and gain the respect of a jury was something every prosecutor should be concerned about at trial. When jurors are wondering which attorney is the prosecutor and which is the defender - that's a concern. Michael comes across that well. That skill/trait is a true asset."
