I am writing this review on October 17, 2021. In the beginning of 2018, it was the darkest days of my life. During that time, I was 6 months pregnant, a single mother and my husband was currently incarcerated for a different case. It was long days of sleepless nights researching and reaching out to m...ultiple lawyers for the last few months trying to figure out how I am going to help my husband with his pending case in Fresno County. At this time, I have reached out to so many lawyers, I basically gave up but I am thankful I messaged Mr. Horowitz on Avvo. I reached out to Mr. Horowitz on May 30, 2018 at 9:43pm at first asking him a question about my husband’s case on the Avvo website, he responded for me to call his office. June 11, 2018 was the first time I spoke with him over the phone.
The issue with my husband was he was currently being detained for a different out of state charge and he was not eligible for pre-trial release because of his Fresno pending case. When I spoke with Rick the first time, he said he would call the Fresno DA to get some status of the pending case. To my surprise he was very informative, and he explained things very well for me to understand. During this time, Rick has informed me that nothing could be done until the other case has been resolved. I thanked him for his help as I waited for my husband’s return.
On October 2019 my husband was released from his out-of-state case. After dealing with my husband’s previous lawyer (from his out-of-state case), I honestly can say I am unsure about retaining any lawyers now. But I kept Rick at the back of my mind because of the way he has helped me back in 2018. I convinced my husband that maybe we should retain Rick. We met with Rick in his office. I was glad Rick was able to make some payment plan for us. Because being a single mother of 2 and just having your husband come back, the payment plan helped a lot.
My husband’s case involved marijuana and a firearm (in which I must add was a registered out-of-state firearm). Like the reviews say, Rick does not make promises, but by working with him, I can see that he knows the legal process very well and will make sure you understand your options clearly before you chose what you want him to do next.
On September 17, 2021, that day I was happy to hear from my husband that the case was dismissed (due to suppression of evidence). I never officially called Rick to say thank you but I am writing this review today because I truely appreciate the hard work he has done to give my children the opportunity to spend every moment with their father again. Thank you Rick, from the bottom of my heart. And as I have said so in 2018, I will say again now: May God bless you in every way and I wish you nothing but success. Thank you.
