Blames Victims-Needs Better Training

Deputy District Attorney Kirsten Ashley Brown blamed me for my attack by an athlete. In spite of a 911 call from a bystander and numerous other tidbits, she slammed her book on her desk and told me "oh, so you're 'one of those girls." She then went into "from my experience, girls who date athletes, i...t's like a thing. It's like a circle." She assumed that I spoke in a hip-hop vernacular and started off explaining that "I'm gone keep it all the way one-hundred with you, so I'mma need you to keep it all the way one-hundred with me." I was not raised like that. I am college educated and I just happened to be in love with someone who abused me mentally which progressed to physical trauma that I am still dealing with. The door was left open during my interview for all staff to hear. When I explained the main house had been broken into and my car had been vandalized since I spoke of the attack, she told me she "did not believe he did it," as if she knows that because he is an athlete, he would be incapable of doing wrong and having someone do such a thing. My trauma center therapists had built me up for weeks to be strong and tell DDA Brown everything and that she is there to help, yet, they too were mortified at how traumatized I returned after seeing her. This is not an incident of someone not being able to handle a DDA showing a victim what a defense attorney would do. I know the difference. She slammed her book on her desk and said, "you actually want me to go out and arrest 'THIS MAN!'" I actaully wanted him to get help and help the next girl and only involved the police when I had no choice after seeking medical care at the hospital, which a nurse called them in. DDA Kirsten Brown also stated she would need to run things by her supervisor. I then in my lowest state of depression said, they probably will tell you no(based on how she treated me, that's what I gathered). She then slammed her law book on her desk and said "I MAKE THE RULES! I DECIDE!" She shook her head and told me "you had to know this relationship wasn't right." She then wanted me to tell her more details. Well, after being yelled at just like he yelled at me and the noise of the slammed book sounding just like my dislocated jaw. I froze. I've tried to ask this DDA get more training. I've left messages for someone to call back to discuss helping her, so she doesn't revictimize victims and show her that just because someone is an athlete, doesn't mean they deviate from the statistic of domestic violence abusers. I've have a good paying job and I have not and will not seek any financial damages from him in civil court. I wanted justice. Yet, she wanted me to tell her blow by blow what happened? How many times he hit me and when I was trying to go through the event, she sighed. Well, next time I don't know I'm going to be attacked and I am trying to protect my face and throat, I will have a notebook ready. I was trying to save my life! If it weren't for bystanders, I'd be dead. Train her! And to her other victims she re-victimizes, you are not alone. Ms Brown, athletes beat women too! I pray no one double your weight attacks you and you develop severe PTSD that causes you to run out of your house as you awake from a dream that he is attacking you again, like I did. After seeing Ms Brown, my therapy was actually extended further and further as they had to spend time getting me to feel safe enough to share again after seeing her. Why? Well, my trust had been built up and the person that was to help me broke it in a million pieces. I ask anyone who works with victims train her....please.
