Daniel Harold Willick

   Dan Willick specializes in healthcare law and has been involved in high profile precedent-setting lawsuits, as an advocate, an expert witness and a neutral.  As an advocate, positions he espoused were adopted by the California Supreme Court (Regents v. Superior Court (2018) 14 Cal 5th 607; and Menendez v. Superior Court (1992) 3 Cal 4th 435).  His testimony as an expert witness supported significant victories by physicians subjected to improper medical peer review in Shahinian v. Cedars-Sinai (2019) 194 Cal App 4th 987; and Chen v. Bright Health Physicians 2014 Unpub. LEXIS 2354.  As a peer review hearing officer his rulings have been affirmed by appellate courts.  (See, e.g., Mileikowsky v. LEXIS 1766.)  He is an arbitrator on the American Arbitration Association Commercial Panel with a specialty in healthcare and has arbitrated health billing disputes.

   Dan is an Adjunct Clinical Professor at the USC Keck School of Medicine, an Assistant Clinical Professor at the UCLA Geffen School of Medicine and has held academic appointments at the Loyola Law School, UCSB, and CSULA.

    He is the general counsel for the Southern California Psychiatric Society and has been a legal consultant to the University of California system on mental health law and general counsel to the California Psychiatric Association.
