The government charged my client with murder. The government had 17 witnesses. Some witnesses were discredited by testifying they consumed four quarts of gin that night, others only saw the aftermath ... of the shooting, and one took the fifth amendment on the oath to tell the truth. Instead of facing consecutive life sentences, after the hung jury we reached a deal for 12 years.
