I highly recommend her....********** 10 stars

Kara and I met online in a conference call because 3 things from the past were still haunting me and I needed help with that. Immediately I felt comfortable with her. After explaining my problem she straight away suggested a solution. I trusted her and basically followed her recommendation. She filed... for expungements at the court for me. I really liked that she was so upfront with everything and not holding anything back. I expected it to take up to 4 months as Kara had told me. What can I say. Just 7 weeks later she emailed me with the first result that 1 expungement had been ordered by the judge and 2 weeks later the other two. I don't know how she managed to accomplish that but for me it was a blessing because now I will be able to study in Los Angeles in January 2019. I owe her big time!!!!! Thank you so much, Kara. You are a really really nice person and I cannot wait to come to the Central Coast to have a coffee with you. I truly recommend Kara to everybody who has a problem with the law or needs guidance.

Kara goes the extra mile.

This was the first time in my life that I had to hire a lawyer to defend me, so I was extremely nervous and had no idea what to expect. From the very first meeting, Kara was extremely compassionate and easy to open up to. During the process, she was very accessible and walked me through everything,... step by step. As we discussed strategies for my defense, she listened to my ideas and concerns and was really able to get down to the heart of the matter. However, the most important thing a lawyer can do is to get a positive outcome on the case. Because Kara was willing to dig deeply into the law books and research old case law, she found obscure, rarely used precedent that she used to get the case against me dismissed. If she had just done what was ordinary or expedient, I would still be suffering the results of the charges. I was blown away by how far she went to find a defense for me that would work and I am truly grateful to her.

Excellent attorney, very knowledgeable, highly recommend

I was arrested for a Drunk In Public (DIP), and was not hopeful that I had other options beyond pleading guilty. I contacted Kara for a brief consultation to discuss some of the details of my arrest with her. She immediately pointed out that DIPs can often be fought to have charges either lessened ...or dropped, and offered up a range possibilities that a more positive outcome might be achieved for me. Her foresight gave me hope, and I asked that she represent me for the remainder of my case. Kara was willing to appear in court on my behalf and did so on all occasions, making my life a lot easier by not having to deal with the stress and hassle of traveling. Before each court appearance, she gave me a breakdown of what she would be discussing with the DA and what sorts of paperwork (if any) she would bring in / fill out / receive. After each court appearance, she immediately contacted me to give me an update of what had transpired. Because of her proactiveness and knowledge of the field, she was able to have all charges against me dropped, all within a very short amount of time. I could not have asked for either a better outcome or better legal representation. I was afraid that having any sort of involvement with police or criminal history would change how people saw me. Kara, however, was supportive and empathetic during the entire process, all while remaining diligent in fighting my case. I would highly, highly recommend Kara to anyone.

Criminal Defense Choice

I was referred to this office, Ms. Stein-Conway took my case, got the ball rolling right away. I made one court appearance, Kara handled the remainder. 90 days later, case resolved. This Lawyer and this Office is the choice for Criminal Defense Legal Representation.

"I strongly recommend Kara. I practice immigration law in San Luis Obispo County. Kara is always aware when a case might have negative immigration consequences and takes that into account when advising her clients. She has also been successful expunging cases or withdrawing plea agreements that were prevented my clients from receiving residency and citizenship. She presents clients with realistic options and probabilities for success and is diligent at communicating with clients."

Avvo Rating

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
