Acting as a product counsel to Citibank’s Latin American Treasury & Trade Solutions business, Barbara advised on all aspects of product development, deal support, technology, marketing, and data privacy for a variety of corporate cash management, global trade, commercial credit card, and payments products. Barbara was recognized for her ability to distill complex legal analysis into business-minded, practical advice.
Prior to Citibank, Barbara practiced in the San Francisco offices of the international law firms Goodwin Procter LLP and Sheppard, Mullin, Richter & Hampton LLP. Her practice encompassed a broad range of business and commercial real estate matters, including hotel transactions, joint ventures, financings, real property acquisitions and dispositions, and limited liability entity formation. Barbara represented many of the world’s leading hotel companies, focusing particularly on the acquisition, financing, development, management, and disposition of luxury hotels, resorts, and other mixed-use hospitality projects throughout the world, in locations ranging from Mexico City, to Rio de Janeiro, to Bora Bora. She developed a sophisticated understanding of hotel operations and legal concerns that impact the ownership and operation of resorts and similar real estate investments that are combined with an operating business.
Barbara has an enduring passion for pursuing justice through action, and has volunteered her time on a variety of pro bono projects throughout her career. She worked on an asylum representation through the Lawyers Committee for Civil Rights of the San Francisco Bay Area, and an adoption through the County of Los Angeles’ Public Counsel Adoption Project. She also worked with the Bar Association of San Francisco’s Homeless Advocacy Project, where she provided legal advice to individuals who are homeless.
Prior to attending law school, Barbara worked as a financial analyst at Bloomberg, L.P., in New York City, where she developed a broad-based understanding of the financial markets.
Barbara earned her bachelor’s degree in Sociology and Spanish from Emory University. During college, she studied abroad at the University of Salamanca, in Salamanca, Spain. She later earned her Juris Doctor from the University of San Francisco School of Law.
Since law school, Barbara has continued her education through programs at Harvard Law School Executive Education and the Middlebury Institute of International Studies.
A native of the Central Valley, Barbara was thrilled to move to San Luis Obispo with her family in 2020. Barbara, and her husband, Ryan, have a daughter, a son, and a new puppy. They enjoy hiking, going to the beach, and cycling. Barbara recently joined the Los Ranchos Elementary School Site Counsel, and is co-leading a Daisy Scout Troop.
