Divorce law is not easy

Getting divorced is perhaps one of the most stressful events in life. Ed Thomas made the pathway smoother when my x was extremely impossible to deal with. He accomplished my goals and years later, though it cost a great deal in cash, he was worth every penny. I highly recommend his skills in negotia...ting and keeping on point.

Don’t hire him!

So I retained Thomas (for a very high cost) because he was the “best”. Shortly after retaining him I realized that his once high status was no longer there. He even called me by the wrong name in trial! My boyfriend even overheard him all me a “b” to the opposing council after our hearing. Totally u...nprofessional! Now I’m out of money and looking for a new attorney to represent me

Don't hire to defend against a parking ticket

We hired Mr. Thomas for a custody dispute in 2018 due to the claim on the front page of his website that he "settles 95% of his cases" prior to trial. I guess we were in the other 5%. Mid case, we caught Mr. Thomas lying to us via his paralegal (in writing) about the status of a police investigation ...related to our case. He told us that the police investigation related to our case was ongoing and that he could not subpoena documents due to the police investigation being active and ongoing. After some digging, it turned out that the police investigation had actually ceased many months earlier and Mr. Thomas was unaware of that fact, seemingly due to his lack of discovery or simply via direct incompetence. This oversight added several months and thousands of dollars to our case. I wouldn't hire Ed Thomas again to defend a speeding ticket let alone a family law matter. The guy is either incompetent as an attorney or he purposely mislead us in order to continue our case beyond its natural longevity for his own financial gain. Neither options are traits highly desired in the legal fraternity.

Before I passed the bar I worked as a paralegal on a Collaborative case where Mr. Thomas was opposing counsel, The parties could have spent their whole estate battling over trivial matters, but Mr. Thomas and the senior partner at my firm helped guide and contain the parties so that their instinct for revenge was contained and their pocket books spared. Meanwhile, I'm informed that if you need a fierce litigator in Kern County, there is no finer. I hope to never confirm this in court :-)"
