Barbara Mcdaniel Harris

I hired Barbara MacDaniel Harris to represent me during my divorce, she promised the world and delivered nothing. The only time I could get a hold of her is when she wanted money. At one point, after two years of her doing very little, her and her paralegal bullied and threatened me just two days bef...ore a court hearing. She is absolutely the worse experience I have ever had with an attorney. Unlike some stories on here about lawyers, the lawyer that I retained after Harris did an excellent job. People a warning, avoid this attorney...

I raised my daughter her entire life. When she was 9yrs old her dad decided to not return her over the summer, he filed an emergency restraining order lieing and saying that I threatend to never let him see her which granted him temporary full custody until we went to court. I hired Mr.Harris over th...e phone. I could never reach her and she never reached out to me. I should have let her go but I know attorneys are busy.Also since I was not from California I had no idea who to go with and she initially sounded so convincing. My ex couldnt prove me unfit in anyway shape or form. I had to fly and sometimes drive from my state to Bakersfield just so she could sit back in her chair never objecting or defending me. I feel I could have won my case representing myself. I was attacked by the other counsil and she did nothing. I lost my daughter and there was no rhyme or reason for this to happen. I am a great mom. I have my two other kids, a house, a car a good job. Even passed the home inspection with flying colors and I still lost her. At the end of the last court date I ask Ms.Harris "Does money buy you the verdict you want here?" (Because I was fighting people with lots of money) she replied "Yes". I paid her every dime she asked for, to only lose my daughter. Since I lost her she and her dad have moved 6 times and uprooting her from state to state. She is so unhappy its breaks my heart. I'm sorry to ever have to write a review like this but in my heart I feel its nessesary!!!

I just recently hired Barbara, again, like a fool. Long story short, after 8 months of trying to modify my support, she didn't show up for my hearing, didn't call to tell me that the judge wanted me present over the phone, and hasn't returned my calls after the fact. She now works as an associate i...n another firm. I would have had better representation from a paper sack. Just a huge waste of time and money. Oh, and to top it all off, my payments went up after it was all said and done. Just unbelievable. My wife's cousin hired her too, same thing, the worst, most impotent counsel on the planet. My ex actually called and laughed at me after the hearing took place. Can you believe that! I hope and pray that folks read this before they get suckered in to hiring this woman. Got walked all over during the custody hearing, and then this. This is gonna cost me thousands over the course of the next 7 years. I wish I had the money to sue her, or even a formal complaint tied to her license. The California Bar Association really needs to look into this woman. It would help a lot of people if they did.

I was represented for Ms. McDaniel, and sold a great story by her Paralegal, but noone delivered. It was like she sat back and watched my kids get ripped away from me while she was still reading the file. Additionally, I was never provided any ongoing billing or documentation of my case throughout ...the process until out-of-the-blue, I was given a bill which inaccurately reflected over 2500 dollars which I had paid to her Paralegal (unaccounted for) and I was told the balance had to be paid within 7 days in order for her to continue on my case. I had NEVER seen a bill prior to that date and she was expecting me to pay over 4000 dollars within seven days. I had no notification prior to this date that I even had an outstanding balance and was certainly not given an adequate amount of time to either pay the balance or retain a new attorney prior to my next court date subsequenItly leaving me with a very dire situation. I ulimately represented myself in my next court case and lost custody of my three children at no cause of my own. I have now obtained new legal counsel to help my children get back with me, their MOTHER. I have vowed, that any way possible without misrepresenting any of the facts, I would help to ensure that futuue clients were not hiring someone withthout having read my story first. These are the facts, my case isstill proceeding and would NOT recommend Ms. McDaniel-Harris or her papalegal, Inez.

Ms Harris is very soft spoken and a very nice person but I must say that she doent know how to handle complicated cases. In the end, you will end up loosing all your money and will not get anything done ( I mean it,Nothing ). She doesnt know the law completely or I should sat at all and sometimes she... has to rely on her paralegal, Ms Inez. You have to give your contact information million times and still they would not have it right. You have to pay for every small things , even for your file. You will not get your monthly statements. You literally has t run after the staff and even if you complain to Ms Harris, she will assure you it wont happen but never takes any step to amend it. I dont know how she is surviving. She is the worst and completely non-aggressive attorney. If you have Uncomplicated cases which can be handled without any knowledge of law, pls hire her. Otherwise , pls do not waste money on her and her paralegal staff. She is highly unprofessional, fails to return your call, doesnt follow up on your case and doesnt keep u updated. Very greedy and you will end up having your money go in to drain.
