Matthew Coleman McCartney

Since the outset of his career, Mr. McCartney has been involved in all aspects of civil litigation, including trial.  Currently, Mr. McCartney focuses his practice in the areas of intellectual property and commercial construction.   Mr. McCartney is also a licensed patent attorney with a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering.  Mr. McCartney’s patent work ensures that his mechanical engineering skills stay honed in connection with a wide variety of technologies. These skills enable Mr. McCartney to quickly assimilate complex issues that often arise in intellectual property and commercial construction disputes.

Whether the project is developing a patent portfolio or litigating a complex public works construction dispute, Mr. McCartney applies his skills with a goal of maximizing value for the client.  To that end, while Mr. McCartney believes that trial is typically the result of a failed negotiation, Mr. McCartney also recognizes that some cases cannot be resolved equitably without resort to trial.  Should the need for trial arise, Mr. McCartney has successfully tried cases at both the state and federal level.
