After a five week trial in which the defendants were represented by several l ... aw firms and multiple lawyers, a permanent injunction was issued requiring the removal of hundreds of billboards from the major scenic highways of Santa Barbara County. This was landmark litigation in the area. Santa Barbara County was the last county to successfully force the removal before federal legislation was obtained limiting county powers in this regard. The case involved claims of unlawful taking, free speech and administrative procedure.
