Anthony Chukwuemeka Madu

We hired attorney Madu back in April of 2022 and paid him $12,000 in retainer fees, after he stated he would represent us with our case. The day before our declaration response to an RFO was due to be submitted into the Indio courthouse on Tuesday, Oct. 25, 2022, attorney Madu called us around mid-da...y letting us know that he would no longer be willing to represent us and that he hadn’t started working on drafting our declaration response to the RFO yet, with less than 24-hours to get it submitted. We tried calling attorney Madu back the next day first thing in morning to get a status on how our declaration was coming along. Madu sent all of our phone calls straight to voicemail all day after repeated attempts to reach him at his cell number. Madu did not return our calls until around 4:15pm, right after the Indio courthouses closed at 4pm on Wed. Oct 26th, 2022. By the time Madu got back to us we had already missed our deadline to submit the declaration by the due date, effectively this means Madu failed to render the services we paid him for and he also abandoned us the day before our paperwork was due. The reasons that he stated that he would no longer represent us were not consistent with what he had been telling us since April, which was that he would see this case through with us to the end and that he was “here to fight” for us. During the last conversation we had with Madu today, we requested a refund for the $12,000 in retainer fees that he charged us with which he denied the refund and began accusing me and my wife of things that were false.
