Watch out...

I am currently stationed overseas and needed some assistance with a quit claim deed. Douglas seemed very knowledgeable in this field where others made it seem impossible. After a brief discussion about the situation he made it seem like costly court fees would be and that a retainer of $2,000 would b...e needed before we can continue any further. I agreed and sent the check along with the attorney client agreement. Less than a week later my co-owner on the house contacted me and explained that there is no need for court and he will sign the quit claim deed. I forwarded this email to Mr. Weeks to receive no response. Less than two weeks later the deed was complete and I was refinancing the house. He only sent me 1 of the 4 invoices listing what he used the deposit for which only totaled $1,149. The last $851 was still in his possession. When I contacted him about the remaining $851 and the invoices I received a response stating that it will not be refunded. He is not trustworthy as he lead me to believe that this matter was going to be expensive which a quit claim deed normally runs $200 from an escrow company. If I knew before that my co-owner was going to sign the document I would of never paid this insane amount of money. I guess it is to much to expect someone to be honest and trustworthy anymore. I hope people see this review and avoid his practice. This is the way Douglas Weeks serves the people who serve the country that he lives in.

Avvo Rating

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
