Find another attorney!

After she failed to see her client after one visit, her paralegal once, and never, never returning phone calls or correspondence I filed a complaint with the Minnesota State Bar Office of Lawyers Professional Responsibility. After a years research concerning my complaint the Bar issued an Admonition... against Judy (Judith) A. Marty. She is on Commonwealth Street in Fullerton. The address on this page is not up to date. The admonition states that she "failed to keep the client reasonably informed", did not place additional funds in a trust account as required by law. Did not offer or return files in an expedient manner after being dismissed by her client (twice by the way). And "It is professional misconduct for a lawyer to engage in conduct involving dishonesty, fraud, deceit, or misrepresentation." Rule 8.4 (d), MRPC, prohibits a lawyer from "engaging in conduct that is prejudicial to the administration of justice." In other words lying to the Minnesota State Bar in the process of the investigation. It was not one lie but many. For details of the admonition contact the Minnesota State Bar Lawyers Office of Professional Responsibility. 800-657-3601.

do your research before you hire an attorney

I hired her in July 2011 to help a friend with an immigration issue. She said she could get him "with holding from removal". She saw him only one time. Hastily put out an effort to stop his deportation the week end of his transfer to immigration. She had three months to put this together. He ha...s been in immigration hold for 7 months (since September). She never contacted him, never offered any help or assistance. She only tried to contact him after we filed with the Orange county Bar for fee arbitration. Her original fee was $5600 flat rate. She informed my friend that these cases normally cost 13K to 20K. When she tried to visit him after 7 months he refused her visit. She tells you just enough for you to hire her. Then she does nothing. She knew he was facing federal charges for reentering the country - we did not know that was going to happen. Very bad experience. He now has another attorney and we are trying to get some of the money back. The new attorney is very helpful, courteous and professional. I have talked to other attorney's and they said they would have never taken the case for the withholding from removal because of the federal charges. Please note only one visit in 7 months. Does not respond to letters of phone calls.

Avvo Rating

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
