Mr. Contreras was not a well spoken man. He easily became agitated by my questions. And showed anger towards me many times in the tone of his voice. He would not answer his phone or reply to emails. He would only call or email when the next payment was due. He was diligent in plea bargaining when the first offer was made, not to me but to him. I suffered a loss after hiring Frank J. Contreras for $8,000. As soon as I paid him the full amount he wanted me to take the first offer they made to me. I asked how he could defend me, and he yelled at me "You have no defense!" He never called me to his office again after that. I felt like me and my family fought the case by ourselves even though we had hired him to represent me. He seemed more like a public defender than he did a lawyer. Also when I paid him he threatened to drop me as his client, because it seemed I was not happy with his services. He tried to convince me to change to another lawyer, and to go with a public defender. He said one might be able to sway the D.A.'s in a better way, and the outcome might be different. I went to court over twenty times over a period of two years causing a lot of anxiety and depression. He kept my court records at the last hearing, and because of the way he talked to me I have not called or emailed him to return to me my paperwork from court.
