Sunday evening I was referred to Christopher and urged to call him now (it was after 7:30 PM). Christopher returned my call and I explained to Christop...her my brothers Saturday evening arrest and legal charges provided by the Detention Center. My brothers arraignment was scheduled for 8:00 AM Monday morning. Christopher drove 50 miles to my brothers arraignment location and was able to get him released on his own recognizance vs. the $85,000,00 bail listed. The following week we are in court for my brothers hearing and Christopher got all infractions dismissed. That was it, no trial, no probation, everything gone like it never happened! In February 2015, I retained Mr. Markelz to represent me in my marital dissolution case. During the period from mid-February to mid May, the services he provided were not as explained verbally or as stipulated in our Retainer Agreement. To wit, he did not provide me with copies of opposing party's ...Financial Disclosures despite several requests in writing to do so. Because of lack of information, I was not able to present him with any counterpoints to negotiate a Marital Settlement Agreement nor could I make an informed decision since I was in the dark as to the other party's financial standing. In addition, he presented me with billing charges for services that I found questionable, hence my request to Mr. Markelz to provide clarification. He promised a response in a two-week time frame, however, the response he sent me was a letter with copies of my email requests and to make an appointment to see him personally in his office for an explnation of the charges. IIf that was his intended response in the first place, it would have been a time-saver had he told me that after my initial request to explain the billing charges. Mr. Markelz also included in a letter to opposing counsel information about my ex-wife, (which I deem falls under the Attorney-Client privilege). I felt that not only was this inappropriate but unwittingly provided the opposing party with information that could be used against me, not necessarily in court, but in other scenarios that are personal in nature. He also stated in a letter that he explained the QDRO process to me which was not factual. Overall, I felt that he charged me for services that he did not provide. Thank you.
