I attained Mr Nordhoff's services over 10 years ago to represent myself in a divorce/custody situation. It was one of the best decisions of my life! Mr Nordhoff guided me through the overwhelming process with confidence, intelligence and patience. I was dealing with an abusive, controlling and addict...ed spouse who was trying to use our 2 year old daughter as a tool to control me. When he would not accept any custody offers of extra days through the mediation process (although he had every other weekend and 2 weekday nights), Mr Nordhoff guided me to Forensic Therapy. In that process, my spouse's severe cocaine addition became evident and I was then able to protect my child from someone who was out of control and potentially dangerous. When he would not settle on a financial amount and declared anything more than zero would be extortion, Mr Nordhoff again carefully navigated me. Eventually the $10,000 I was willing to settle for, became $60,000. He also had to cover the majority of Mr Nordhoff's fees as he was the one resposible for all the court time by not complying. There was an extensive custody battle that went on for several years as my ex-husband stopped paying child support, would not see his daughter with a monitor and could not get clean. He did just enough to show interest by continuing to take me back to court and then do nothing that the judge ordered or required. By the time she was nearly 6 years old, after countless court appearances, two parental right termination hearings, several lawyers representing my daughter and about 7 that my ex went through, my new husband was able to adopt her. We have since had 2 more daughters. To say that Mr Nordhoff saved my life is an understatement....he helped give me a life, a very happy life, and he protected my innocent precious child from being in the middle of a very ugly situation. She is virtually unaffected, aware her biological father exists, very happy her life is what it is and who she is. Clearly Mr Nordhoff has an expertise that is unparalleled. He was more than fair and would give my ex every opportunity to do the right thing but when that failed to happen, he responded with strength and precision. Going through all the emotional turmoil and fear, as well as the financial stresses was extremely difficult. Mr. Nordhoff would also give me good coping advice on these dealings. It seems like a lifetime ago and I thank my lucky stars it is behind me and that I had such a competent lawyer on my team. My situation may be extreme however having an attorney who has your back is priceless. Obviously, I recommend Steven G Nordhoff a 100%
