I am a fellow Certified Family Law Specialist who has known Mr. Shack for some 27 years. When I was going through my own divorce in 1986, I hired Mr. Shack to represent me. He did an excellent job. When I hired Richard, I had a visitation order that provided only minimal visitation with my son. At trial, Richard obtained a joint custody order that provided me with custody on an equal timeshare (50/50). He obtained a fair property settlement and reasonable support orders. He kept me informed of developments throughout the process and was responsive to my inquiries and needs.
Richard's knowledge of family law is unsurpassed. I often call upon Richard for insight or advice whenever I encounter a new or difficult issue in one of my own cases.
I would not hesitate to hire Richard Shack again if I needed a lawyer and I highly recommend him to anyone in need of a family law attorney.

Mr. Shack was referred to me. What was a domestic violence case turned into a settlement with no findings of DV. I was thoroughly disappointed. Mr. Shack assured me that the restraining order would happen. There was plenty of evidence for trial. Unfortunately he was not prepared and decided to settle with opposing counsel. What's worse and so unprofessional is that he threatened to go into trial or drop me essentially if I didn't sign and agree to the settlement. Even worse he basically told me on the spot that he did not believe me and was swayed by opposing counsel's witnesses. I asked him very direct questions and his response to me that he has been doing this for a number of years and why don't I stop asking questions, basically be quiet and let him do his job. Now I have a RO that shows no findings of DV. I have let him go and have found an attorney that believes in me. I do not have the faith in this lawyer to deal with custody of my children. Specifically ladies be very careful as he will promise you everything, you pay him quite a bit of money (he does not accept CC and accepts cash right away), and he will not fight for you---he settles. To me that is a waste of money. Also he has his clients write their own depos. I truly wish I never hired this attorney. To have an attorney turn on you and not believe you in court is the absolute worst. I have shown what we have and been told by several other attorneys his reputation is to settle. I could have settled myself.

Mr. Shack was an excellent attorney. Even though he had to catch up on my case with little time before court hearing (due to incompetant previous attorneys), he focused in on the important points. He exposed the lies of the other side and we prevailed. My concerns and calls were always returned in a short time - even on weekends. Some may find him to be "short" and to the point, but I appreciate that. I want to hear the truth, not a lot of words t make me feel good.
