Peter F. Finnerty

Peter Finnerty is a personal injury attorney at Sweet James Accident Attorneys who spent nearly two decades as a Deputy District Attorney for Orange County before bringing that same tenacious advocacy to plaintiff’s personal injury work. He is admitted to practice in California and focuses his practice on personal injury.

As a Senior Deputy in the Sexual Assault Unit from 2011 to 2022, Peter handled Sexually Violent Predator prosecutions, and his earlier career included complex litigation class action defense and tax work. He earned his Juris Doctor from Brooklyn Law School and a Master of Laws from Georgetown Law Center, and holds a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations from Boston University. He is a member of the Consumer Attorneys of California and the Orange County Celtic Bar Association, has conducted trainings for the OCDA Prosecutors Academy, the California District Attorneys Association, the Orange County Sheriff’s Department, and the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office, and was awarded the OCDA Certificate of Excellence in 2016 and Mothers Against Drunk Driving’s Diligent Prosecutor Award in 2008.
