I suggest small claims. I really don't see a big case. "almost" "blind" is not collectible damage.

It depends on the language of the policy. Medi-Cal always gets reimbursed from uninsured motorist settlement but most other health insurances...

You can get some aid from the court's clerk. You really don't need to pay a lawyer. Sounds like a small case to me and why waste your money.
