Alex S Johnson

Mr. Johnson specializes in commercial real estate and corporate finance, with an emphasis on purchase and sale transactions, development, leasing, and secured financing.

Mr. Johnson has experience representing both landlords and tenants in office, medical, industrial, and retail leasing transactions. In addition, Mr. Johnson has experience representing property owners, developers, and investors in purchase and sale transactions involving commercial, industrial, and retail buildings and multi-family residential projects, including analysis of complex title, survey and due diligence issues. Mr. Johnson also has experience representing lenders and borrowers in secured financing matters, including acquisition, construction, and permanent financing of development and investment properties.

Before joining Garrett DeFrenza Stiepel Ryder LLP, Mr. Johnson represented institutional lenders, hedge funds, and private equity firms as an associate in the corporate finance and restructuring group of a large international law firm and represented cities and redevelopment agencies as an associate at a prominent Irvine-based municipal law firm. Mr. Johnson is admitted to practice in California.

• Representation of a developer in connection with a $41 million construction loan financing.
• Representation of a developer and an institutional investor in connection with their acquisition of industrial properties totaling over $36 million.
• Representation of a property owner in connection with its acquisition of an office building for over $13 million.
• Representation of a landlord in connection with a 35,000 square foot commercial lease.
• Drafting leases, easement agreements, license agreements, site access agreements, surrender agreements, assignment and assumption agreements, lease amendments, and purchase agreement amendments.
