The employer failed to pay all overtime wages due and deducted "fines" from employees' payc ... hecks unlawfully. We obtained a jury verdict for all three class representatives with Perry Smith as the lead trial counsel. We had to fight through adverse rulings by the trial court and seek the assistance of the court of appeal, but we ultimately obtained an uncontested judgment for more than five million dollars on behalf of a class of employees. We are attempting to collect the judgment, although it will not be easy considering the chain stopped doing business.
