Ethically Challenged and Deficient Legal Skills

After a careful examination of the disciplinary history and professional performance of Mr. York, it is important to raise several significant concerns regarding both his qualifications and his ability to effectively represent clients. Disciplinary History: November 21, 2011: Mr. York was d...eemed not eligible to practice law in California, with his license suspended due to his failure to pass the Professional Responsibility Examination (Case No. 05-O-04235). September 29, 2010: He was placed on disciplinary probation as part of the same case (Case No. 05-O-04235), which reflects serious concerns regarding his professional conduct and adherence to ethical standards. These disciplinary actions, particularly the suspension and failure to meet essential licensing requirements, should be taken into serious consideration when evaluating this attorney’s qualifications. A history of such disciplinary measures raises valid questions about his ethical judgment, professional integrity, and commitment to the legal standards required of a practicing attorney. Competence and Legal Skill: In terms of actual legal practice, I find Mr. York’s professional competence to be gravely lacking. A critical assessment of his legal writing reveals work that is, at best, rudimentary and uninspiring. In comparison to other legal services available to the public—such as those provided by Rocket Lawyer, which offers services at a fraction of the cost—his work falls significantly short in both quality and substance. Mr. York seems to excel primarily in drafting threatening letters, which carry the superficial appearance of being written by an attorney but lack meaningful legal foundation or strategic merit. This indicates a concerning gap in his ability to handle substantive legal issues effectively, especially those requiring thoughtful legal reasoning or creative strategy. Potential Risks of Hiring Mr. York: If you are considering hiring Mr. York for any legal matters beyond basic correspondence or minor, low-risk tasks, I would strongly advise against it. His lack of organizational skills, poor attention to detail, and inability to deliver work that meets professional standards are likely to cause significant harm to your legal interests. Should Mr. York represent you in any litigation or trial-related matters, it is highly probable that opposing counsel would find themselves facing minimal resistance, leading to an easy victory. In such scenarios, your case may suffer from the lack of competent legal representation, leaving you exposed to potentially adverse legal outcomes. Conclusion: In light of the serious ethical and professional concerns raised by Mr. York's disciplinary history, as well as his demonstrated inability to provide competent legal services, I strongly advise against retaining his services for any significant legal matters. His qualifications and legal abilities appear insufficient to meet the high standards required of an attorney in today’s legal landscape. It is crucial to thoroughly vet any legal representation to ensure that your legal rights and interests are safeguarded—based on my review, Mr. York does not meet these critical standards.

Was excellent!

We used Michael York about 10 years ago. Had a difficult problem with a kitchen contractor who delivered substandard work according to CSLB. We tried to ask him to correct the numerous problems and instead of trying to make amends he had his father who was an attorney call and tell us that there wa...s nothing in our contract that addressed our complaints. We had no choice but to hire Michael and he was able to help us settle for an amount that more than covered the correction of everything. He answered all of our questions in a timely fashion, was extremely knowledgeable. It was hard to believe that we found an attorney that was actually honest and compassionate.
