Insight Beyond the Basics
The true measure of a land use lawyer’s value is found not merely in the technical expertise common to most land use lawyers, but in broad experience, knowledge, and creativity that are far less common. Mix in an understanding of the client’s business goals and values, and the attorney with these uncommon traits can make a positive difference in the efficiency, cost, and success of the entitlement effort. Tim’s diverse experience and distinct approach to his craft allow him to recognize and strategically pursue his clients’ objectives.
Named by California's leading daily legal publication, the Daily Journal, as one of "California's Top 30 Real Estate Lawyers for 2012," Tim also has been recognized in the highly respected "Best Lawyers in America” every year since 2007 and named by his peers as a “Southern California Super Lawyer” for eleven consecutive years.
Experience that Matters
Tim’s insight comes not only from his entitlement background, but also from experience in private land development, his early years as a business and real estate litigator, and public service. He has managed entitlement for The Irvine Company's projects in Newport Beach, Anaheim, and Orange, served as a Planning Commission Chairman and a Governor's appointee to the California Law Revision Commission, and taught Environmental Law Practice as an Adjunct Professor at Chapman University School of Law.
Entitlement Throughout California
Known for his thoughtful strategic approach, Tim guides his clients through the often frustrating crush of governmental regulation. His practice emphasizes CEQA, the Coastal Act, development agreements, and the local planning process. He has worked on projects across California, most often in Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, Los Angeles, and San Diego Counties.
Courtroom Success
Tim’s safeguarding of his clients' interests extends to courtrooms throughout the State. Whether defending against a CEQA challenge or reversing a Coastal Commission project denial, his entitlement expertise and practical business perspective have contributed to an excellent success rate.
