I do not recommend this lawyer

There is one star negative review from 2013 on this platform by "PrincessBunnySlippers" which exactly describes my experience with the same lawyer Elizabeth McCoy. I hired her for a living trust & had a negative experience. When I worked with her, communication was difficult; and she did not educa...te me on how to prep for our meetings. And so, I felt forced to make important decisions on the spot during meetings without any pre-planning such as for our will and living will. When I had questions about the trust, I had to email her repeatedly for a response. She declined to help with the trust because her case load was too busy. If you have assets beyond a single family house, I highly recommend that you use caution. The positive reviews she received appear to be from friends. If you were referred to this lawyer by someone, make sure that it was from someone who actually hired her as a lawyer and not someone who works with her at a special needs organization. Once my trust was completed, I found it very difficult to reach her. Unfortunately, it is important to have a responsive lawyer because your family circumstances will probably change with time.

Excellent and honest attorney

I have known Ms. McCoy for over 5 years and have found her work to be commendable. She is honest, forthright and diligent in her approach to legal practice. I have never found an instance when she missed a deadline or an appointment, or even made me wait. She has been very helpful to me in getting... a particular thorny real estate issue resolved. In addition, I have experienced her dedication to her work through all of the extra hours she dedicates to raising money for autism research. She works hard to help those who need an advocate, who may be unable to speak for themselves. I have also experience her community work with Boy Scouts & Cub Scouts, helping with the community Christmas Parade, and her sons' schools. Despite her busy schedule, she is often seen at her sons' sporting events and school events. She adroitly balances the demands of work and family life. In short, not only is Elizabeth an excellent attorney with extremely high standards, she is also a person of exemplary character. I would highly recommend her for any estate work, and particularly for her specialty, Special Needs Trusts.

Horrible Experience with this attorney for a Special Needs Trust

Our family had a HORRIBLE experience with this attorney. She sounded great and knowledgeable and she did a firm, fixed price trust. She said all the right things and assured us that if we needed her advice regarding the trust all we had to do was call or email. Once she filed the trust we never heard... from her again. She didn't return calls, she didn't return email responses. The trust became stale and she was unresponsive about servicing the trust. FIVE years later she was legally forced by another attorney to have to address the trust, and indignantly we hear from her out of the blue with a bunch of excuses and she had the AUDACITY to try to bill us having to service HER OWN WORK. We told her basically to F off and not contact us again and we may still file a bar complaint. I do NOT recommend this attorney. There are plenty of Special Needs Trust and Estate Planning Attorneys who have honesty and integrity. My experience with this woman leads me to conclude she is a special needs families predator who goes after families with young children of special needs kids selling expensive trust packages to get the money then run. Caveat Emptor. This woman seems like the real deal, her facade was entirely believable. We had to learn the hard way.
