I've never been one to write these, but I feel I must after enduring almost two entire years of working with Jim. I have to warn the next person who is researching him. He handled our probate case when my father passed away and was recommended by a family friend. Grieving and desperate, we didn't... search far for help, and Jim was pleasant upon first contact. Jim Migler is simply too old and his methods are beyond antiquated. We were constantly having to correct forms with his misspellings and errors, over and over. He struggled with doing anything online: he always had to print, write, cross out, whiteout and rewrite, despite using e-filing methods where he could've typed. His emails were short, strange and not professional. Communicating over email with him was beyond frustrating, trying to make sense of 5+ emails to send us one PDF document because he didn't know how to add multiple PDF's to a single email. He would often get the numbers completely wrong for the sale of my father's estate, putting the decimal in the wrong place so the paperwork reflected my dad's house was only worth hundreds of dollars instead of thousands of dollars. It was so stressful to comb over every single line in every document to make sure he didn't make a very costly mistake. His voicemail was always full when we tried to leave a message. He was unable to provide us with even a bare-bones timeline about what was going on with our case, despite for being a probate lawyer for 40+ years. His answers to our questions were not direct and left us with even more questions. He is feeble and appears/acts as if he can hardly write/see. We looked into getting a new lawyer, but as our case was already in progress with Jim, we were stuck with him. For two years I was having stress dreams about our case being incomplete or filed wrongly, because of Jim's demeanor. When we expressed our worries about how much time it was taking/how little we knew, he assured us this was how the courts work. But, after seeing him work, I didn't believe that he had the capability to physically do anything in a more proactive manner. Our time with Jim began just about the time Covid started, so I tried to take into account that the probate might take longer than usual, but Jim made the tougher time even more difficult to deal with. My family and I could not be more relived that this experience is over with Jim and now we can finally grieve in peace. Thank you.
